Welcome to Portland Green Parenting!

PGP is a grassroots membership based network bringing together eco-minded families in Portland, OR and surrounding areas since 2007. Our mission is to connect, support, nourish and empower growing families who want to live sustainably and in community. We do this by hosting an active online community, family friendly events at our café and community space, by organizing weekly food pickups through Know Thy Food, our Food Buying Club that specializes in local and organic foods and goods, and lots more. Please read more about us below....

The Warehouse

In April 2010, we secured a bricks and mortar location, and in October 2010 we finally opened our doors to the public at "The Warehouse" in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Under our roof you will find a growing and ever evolving collection of resources and services that fall in line with our mission and vision. We want to serve as a resource and welcome input on how to best serve our community and neighborhood.

Calendar and forums!  E-mail

Our online members-only forums are welcoming, active and resourceful. They are a great place to connect with other families, seek advice and recommendations, ask questions, set up play dates, and chit chat about the trials and tribulations of parenting.

We also have an entire subforum dedicated to Know Thy Food, our "Community Supported Pantry." This is where you can find other families to share bulk foods with in order to save even more money. We often organize/host other members-only bulk buys, including an Azure Standard drop, monthly orders from Frontier Co-op, Mountain Rose Herbs and other vendors.

Check out our calendar for events, deadlines and schedules if you would like to become involved. We take delivery of organic produce, farm direct eggs, dairy and other perishables on a weekly basis while frozen grass fed meats, nuts, grains, oils and other organic bulk foods usually arrive once a month. We have lots of fun, interesting and family oriented events in the Portland area listed on the calendar as well!

Don't be shy, we look forward to meeting you!

Teach and Learn With Us!  E-mail

One of our goals is to share knowledge and skills within our community. We seek to offer an increasing array of classes on natural parenting, sustainable living, and the preparation and preservation of real food. We envision a cooperative atmosphere and want to keep our workshops affordable and accessible to all families while also fairly compensating instructors for their time and expertise. We hope to serve as a resource to the community by offering a variety of fun, family friendly and affordable workshops-- the idea is to learn and grow together.

If there is a class that you would like to see listed here, let us know. We are happy to try and find guest instructors. New ideas are always welcome!

If you have skills or expertise that fits with our values and vision, please contact us about offering a workshop or series of classes!

As an instructor you determine the cost of tuition, but we appreciate a sliding scale and/or discount for our members. If desired, Portland Green Parenting can handle registration for workshops, promote your workshop, and provide space in our spacious Community Room. Please inquire!
