Little Mulberry School: a Brooklyn neighborhood child care/preschool/after school program.
community - community news

Little Mulberry School is a Brooklyn neighborhood child care/preschool/after school program.  We are located very close to Winterhaven, close to downtown, and close to the Ross Island bridge.
Join our vibrant and growing community of young people, parents, and teachers!
Aline Ochun is the director; she is a 32 year old Portland woman who has been working with young children since she was 16 years old, including working at Helen Gordon Child Development Center, four years as a professional nanny, and many other experiences.   She has a B.S. from PSU, where she studied Women's Studies and Child and Family Studies.  Her life experience is varied, and she brings many skills and passions to the classroom, from Co-counseling, to dance and movement, to anti-bias activism, to a love of world travel.
Little Mulberry school offers loving, thoughtful, creative education and care.  The learning environment is Reggio inspired (mixed in with many other philosophies), along with simple practical life, like gardening, baking, cleaning, etc.  There are opportunities to explore nature, math, literature, reading, writing, art, science, playing, acting, singing, dancing and movement, creating, social skills, problem solving, and much more.  Fun field trips to Multnomah county libraries, Children's Healing Art Project, OMSI, Children's Museum, and nature walks.
At snack time, local organic foods are served when possible.
Little Mulberry School is a Certified Family Child Care Home (licensed through Child Care Division of Oregon).
The morning program includes children 24 months up to Pre-K.  The after school program is for children 2-6 years old.
Open M-Th 8:30-5:30, F 8:30-4:30.
