Know Thy Food is a food buying club that operates once a week out of the back space at "The Warehouse" in the Brooklyn neighborhood. We now have over 450 members! It is a not-for-profit collaborative effort where we work directly with local, organic food producers and distributors to bring healthy food to families at affordable prices. KTF is the first food buying club in Portland to accept SNAP benefits (food stamps) and make farm-direct high quality food available to everyone! By eliminating the retail middle man, we strive to both pay the farmers we work with a fair price AND also save money over retail store prices. It's hard work, but very gratifying to know exactly where our food comes from, who produced it, how far it's traveled, and of course to know that we are feeding our families the freshest and most nutrient dense foods. Our mission is to continue making high quality foods and other goods available to families at fair prices; helping to sustain our families and communities, and foster a healthy, vibrant local food economy.
Right now we are planning our 1 Year Anniversary Celebration and grassroots fundraising campaign, and we need support from other environmentally and socially conscious businesses in the area in order to bring our vision to reality. Please consider a donation to our upcoming auction on Sunday, June 5th. Your business name will be prominently displayed with any item donated. Those who donate items valued at $100 or more will be listed in The Warehouse newsletter, which is sent to over 500 environmentally-minded people who want to support our local economy. Any funds raised will go to improving our space and ensuring we can continue serving as many families as possible who want to support local organic agriculture.
We are hoping to create themed gift baskets, and are hoping you might consider donating a gift certificate or an item for the basket. Thanks so much for your consideration.
